Otra vez el tema de la Resolución del Monitor.

Amigos, yo tengo el mismo problema de la resolución del Monitor en Ubuntu 10.04. Ya traté todas las variantes que se han presentado aquí y en otros foros, pero nada, sigo con el problema. Finalmente leyendo el log del X me encontré con un mensaje que dice que no puede usar el modo 1024 768@60 porque no tiene memoria suficiente para este modo. Realmente la PC tiene solo 32 MB de video, pero no creo que esto sea el impedimento porque en Win2 funciona bien, incluso puedo usar el modo 1024 768@85.

El driver empleado es el openchrome, ya probé con VESA, con Intel y nada. Con estos dos últimos ni siquiera se inicia el X y con el openchrome me sigue dando el bateo de la memoria. He probado con todas las combinaciones de modline posibles y nada.
Por favor, si alguien me puede ayudar con esto se lo voy a agradecer mucho.

Seguro. Primero obtuve un xorg.conf.new con xorg -configure y a ese fichero le agregué los demás datos del monitor según las páginas man de xorg.conf pero todo fue en vano. Creo que ahora el problema no es del xorg.conf porque según el log del xorg, parece que todo funciona bien, solo que al parecer no hay "memoria suficiente para usar el modo especificado".

Bueno amigo, mira aqui yo veo un error en modeline lo que tienes puesto es "1024x768_60.00", sin embargo lo que va es "1024x768@60.00". Mira a ver eso.

Como ves el sistema reconoce el Modeline y toda la configuración del monitor, pero me dice que no tiene memoria para los modos mayores que 640x400.

Copia esto en un nuevo fichero en tu escritorio linux, nombralo xorg.conf, y sustituye tu xorg. conf por el que acabas de crear, reinicia la PC y tendras de las resoluciones que estan en el xorg.conf las que tu monitor soporte, si solo soporta hasta una resolución de 1024x768, la de 1280x1024 que esta en el xorg.conf no la tendras en la lista de resoluciones.

pues a mi me pasó diferente........ hace unos días tuve problemas con el monitor ........ (y cosas de electrónica)........ tuve que recurrir a mi viejo monitor Sigma en blanco y negro y no aguantaba más que 640x480_60 16bits
gracias a ustedes ahora puedo trabajar de nuevo........... auí les dejo una copia del xorg.conf que me hice:

cabelleros en su auge por ayudar olvidaron que debian y ubuntu en sus versiones modernas o actuales ya no utilizan el Xorg.conf sino otra forma la cual no he descubierto aun y solo utiliza una carpeta xorg.d donde hay unos scrips que se ejecutan para configurar Las X
Por favor ayudennos desde esa perspectiva...
